Dr. Paul D. Miller ISCD Service Award

2021 Award presented to:
Diane Krueger, BS, CBDT

Diane Krueger received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is an ISCD-certified clinical densitometrist and a certified clinical research coordinator through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. She has been program manager of the University of Wisconsin Osteoporosis Clinical Research Program since its inception in 1993.  Ms. Krueger has extensive clinical research experience in osteoporosis and bone densitometry, having coordinated multiple industry and investigator-initiated studies.  In collaboration with the UW Osteoporosis Program, she has published over 90 manuscripts and authored or presented over 200 abstracts.  Her service with ISCD has included serving as Technologist Bone Densitometry Course faculty since 2006 and chairing the related Update Annual Meeting Committees.  In her leadership capacity, she is currently Education Council chair and serves on the Executive Committee and Board.  Additionally, she previously held several officer positions including Secretary and four Presidential seats. 

Dr. John P. Bilezikian ISCD Global Leadership Award
Presented for distinguished service and leadership in the global promotion of the field of bone densitometry and the ISCD

2021 Award presented to:
Dr. E. Michael Lewiecki, MD, FACP, FACE, FASBMR, CCD

E. Michael Lewiecki, MD, FACP, FACE, FASBMR, CCD, is Director of New Mexico Clinical Research & Osteoporosis Center and Director of Bone Health TeleECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) at University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, NM. He is a consultant in osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases, supervisor of bone densitometry at his center, and an educator with a special interest in the management of osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. He is principal investigator for the center’s osteoporosis clinical trials and author of over 300 scientific publications on osteoporosis and assessment of skeletal health. Dr. Lewiecki is a board member and telehealth advisor for the National Osteoporosis Foundation and past-president of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. He is founding president of the Osteoporosis Foundation of New Mexico and program director of its flagship activity, the annual Santa Fe Bone Symposium.

ISCD Clinician of the Year Award
Presented to an outstanding clinician for distinguished service to the field of densitometry in the areas of publication, education or leadership

2021 Award presented to:
Dr. Chanika Sritara, MD, CCD

Dr Chanika Sritara is a nuclear medicine physician, deputy head of the Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiology, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand.  She is a daughter of of an American board orthopedic surgeon.  After spending a year in California as an exchange student, she obtained her medical degree at the faculty with first-class honors, then studied for a master’s degree in Nuclear Medicine at Guy’s Hospital in London, where she had had the first glimpse of DXA from Dr. Glen Blake and the late Prof. Ignac Fogelman, before her further training locally at the faculty.

She has become a CCD since 2008. Later, she joined the Thai Osteoporosis Foundation (TOPF), where she has been responsible for organizing a bone densitometry workshop and become a member to the ISCD Asia Pacific Panel since 2017.

Dr. Harry K. Genant ISCD Researcher of the Year Award
Presented to an outstanding researcher for distinguished service to the field of densitometry in the areas of publication, education or leadership

2021 Award presented to:
Dr. Neil Binkley, MD, CCD

Dr. Neil Binkley earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, Wisconsin, USA and subsequently trained in Internal Medicine. After several years in private Internal Medicine practice, he returned to the University of Wisconsin and completed a Geriatrics fellowship. He is currently a Professor in the Divisions of Endocrinology and Geriatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where he is also Director of the UW Osteoporosis Clinical Research Program and Associate Director of the UW Institute on Aging. He is past President of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. His current research involves evaluation of approaches to improve assessment of vitamin D status and evaluation of ways to enhance fracture risk prediction by consideration of functional status and sarcopenia.
