2026 Volunteer Opportunities
At the ISCD, we currently have over 20 committees led and supported by member volunteers offering their diverse professional expertise, leadership and time from around the world! We thank all who are currently and have previously served in a volunteer capacity to further our mission at ISCD. The quality of our programs, services, and member benefits depends on your dedication and support.
Volunteer positions are available to all active ISCD members. If you are interested in getting more involved, but are not currently a full, professional, or community member and would like to join or upgrade, please contact our team at iscd@iscd.org. We are happy to assist and prorate the upgrade from the maintenance of certification program.
Serving on an ISCD committee is a meaningful way to collaborate with colleagues across the globe. We invite members interested in getting more involved to submit their interest by June 30 in the following areas:
Educational Course Committee Members and Faculty
ISCD offers a wide variety of livestream courses annually. Each course is updated by a committee of dedicated subject matter experts and taught by select faculty with relevant experience and expertise. We are currently seeking committee members for the courses listed below. Interested members should be prepared to submit a CV and depending on the role, an interview may also be part of the process.
Pediatric Bone Densitometry Course: We are seeking ISCD members with direct clinical experience in pediatric skeletal health. Specifically, those who clinically manage patients with bone health conditions or perform skeletal health assessments in pediatric populations.
- Anticipated Commitment: 3 years
- Scope of Work: Collaborate with fellow committee members to review, refine, and update course content on an ongoing basis, and occasionally serve as faculty for live virtual offerings of the course.
DXA Body Composition Course: We are seeking ISCD members with direct clinical or research experience applying DXA-based body composition assessment in practice.
- Anticipated Commitment: 3 years
- Scope of Work: Collaborate with fellow committee members to review, refine, and update course content on an ongoing basis, and occasionally serve as faculty for live virtual offerings of the course.
Digital Learning Activity Development Committee
ISCD is committed to delivering 35 hours of on-demand continuing education annually through the ISCD Learning Center, and this committee is at the heart of making that happen. We are looking for ISCD members to serve on this committee and play an active role in shaping a robust, relevant CE catalog for our membership.
- Anticipated Commitment: 3 years
- Scope of Work: Work collaboratively to identify education needs and gaps across the field, propose topics and connect with potential speakers, and develop and review assessment questions for on-demand activities. Committee members will also help identify and develop live in-person and live virtual education offerings with an eye toward repurposing that content as on-demand programs within the Learning Center.
Facility Accreditation Committee
The Facility Accreditation Program (FAP) of ISCD is the premier accrediting body in the field of skeletal health assessment and the leader in DXA quality recognition through the program’s certificate of endorsement and seal of accreditation. The ISCD Facility Accreditation Program contributes to improved skeletal health through continuous quality and performance improvement in the field based on current scientific knowledge.
- Seeking: ISCD members certified as CCD or CBDT (can join as a new member)
- Anticipated Commitment: 3 years
- Scope of Work: Committee members can anticipate an average of 24 hours of committee work annually. A facility accreditation assessor is a DXA professional that will evaluate application submissions from facilities. Submissions from facilities include, but are not limited to: phantom plot graphs, precision table values and charts, acquired scans (baseline and follow-up), and DXA reports (baseline and follow-up). There are 2 types of Assessors:
Interpreter assessor – The interpreter assessor is an ISCD CCD clinician, radiologist, or other qualified DXA Interpreter. Interpreter assessors will grade submissions of DXA interpreters that include all the baseline and follow-up reports submitted, along with other forms as required.
Technologist assessor – The technologist assessor is an ISCD CBDT or CDT. Technologist assessors will grade the submissions of the DXA technologist that include baseline and follow-up scans submitted along with other forms as required.
Both the interpreter and technologist assessors will evaluate the DXA scanner QA/QC worksheet and the accompanying charts and plot graphs. All new assessors will be trained in evaluating application submissions.
