Asia Pacific Tripartite Alliance
A tripartite regional alliance was officially launched at the IOF Regional Meeting APAC in 2018 between the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) and The International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), and the Asian Federation of Osteoporosis Societies (AFOS) to collaborate on a common platform to achieve their respective missions while complying with their own vision and identities.
The three organizations agree that: the bone field is facing impactful new challenges that require the optimization of resources, the creation of synergies and the mutual, cooperative efforts of the respective organizations; the health burden represented by osteoporosis and fragility fractures is growing in Asian countries; through their experience, expertise, and operations, each organization brings complementary resources beneficial to the fight against osteoporosis and fragility fractures in Asia.
International Osteoporosis Foundation
ISCD is a member of the IOF Committee of National Societies (CNS), currently comprised of 254 full or associate member societies in 100 countries, territories and regions worldwide. Members are independent, not-for-profit osteoporosis societies or organizations, which carry out medical activities, generate public awareness and policy change, and provide a variety of services to people with bone, muscle and joint disorders.
Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (Formerly National Osteoporosis Foundation) – Interspeciality Medical Council
The Interspecialty Medical Council (IMC) was convened by the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) to provide diverse and important perspectives on issues of common concern around osteoporosis and bone health relating to professional practice, education and public policy, among others. The IMC is currently comprised of 15 medical specialty societies whose appointed representatives collaborate and advise BHOF on mutual issues of concern regarding the care of patients with or at risk for osteoporosis and related fractures. ISCD is a member of this council.
National Bone Health Alliance (NBHA)
The National Bone Health Alliance (NBHA) is a public-private partnership launched in 2010 that brings together the expertise and resources of its member organizations to collectively: promote bone health and prevent disease; improve diagnosis and treatment of bone disease; and enhance bone research, surveillance and evaluation. ISCD is an active member of this alliance.
Osteoporosis Essentials: Densitometry, Diagnosis and Management
This is a Joint venture by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) and the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) to provide a single, scientifically robust, course on Clinical Densitometry and the Diagnosis and Management of Osteoporosis. The course is designed for worldwide application and is available to organizations interested in hosting in their local area.
The Asia Pacific Fragility Fracture Alliance (APFFA)
The Asia Pacific Fragility Fracture Alliance (APFFA) has a primary focus to drive policy change, improve awareness and change political and professional mindsets to facilitate optimal fragility fracture management across Asia Pacific (APAC). ISCD is one of the seven global and regional member organizations from the geriatrics, orthopedics, osteoporosis and rehabilitation sectors that makes up the APFFA. The APFFA’s vision is to deliver effective care, fewer fractures and better outcomes for people living in Asia Pacific.
