Chapter 3701-72 Licensing of Radiation Handlers Operating in Medical Setting
3701-72-01 Definitions.
(J) “General x-ray machine operator” or “limited scope operator (LSO)” means an individual, other than a licensed practitioner or radiographer, who performs standard, diagnostic radiologic procedures; whose performance of radiologic procedures is limited to specific body sites; and who does not, to any significant degree, determine the site or dosage of radiation to which a patient is exposed.
3701-72-02 Radiologic license application and renewal procedures.
(L) The department may approve continuing education which has been approved by the “American Society of Radiologic Technologists,” “Society of Nuclear Medicine,” or “International Society for Clinical Densitometry” for continuing education courses.
3701-72-04 Licensee authorizations and requirements.
(F) General x-ray machine operators licensed after August 1, 2008, shall complete one or as many of the following competency-based clinical training modules from an accredited competency-based clinical training program needed to meet the requirements to work within the scope of practice of their supervising practitioner:
• Chest and abdomen,
• Extremities,
• Skull and sinus,
• Spine,
• Podiatric radiography, or
• Bone densitometry.
