It was a true pleasure to see so many colleagues and friends in Chicago last spring at our first in-person annual meeting since the pandemic. In Chicago, we celebrated our 30th Anniversary as a professional association dedicated to advancing high quality musculoskeletal health assessment in the service of superior patient care. Expert Speakers from around the globe, some of whom have been a part of the organization since its inception, presented the latest information in the research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and advances in bone densitometry, osteoporosis, and skeletal health assessment.
As you may remember, we also held the 2023 Position Development Conference (PDC) in Chicago. I would like to personally thank all the members of our PDC task forces and all our ISCD members who attended the open session. The topics for the 2023 PDC included Trabecular Bone Score (TBS) Application and Reporting, DXA Monitoring, and DXA Reporting. The final updated Official Positions are now published and available on ISCD’s website.
One of my personal goals as President was to work with our Regional Panels around the globe to support them in achieving their respective goals and initiatives, and to increase their engagement in the Society. ISCD courses were held in all our regions in 2023 and ISCD Certification Exams were held in two of our regions. We also held elections in many of our regions, welcoming new leaders to ISCD. See all of ISCD’s Regional Panel leaders here.

At ISCD, we are excited to be introducing NEW virtual symposia dedicated to the diverse educational needs of our Technologists and Clinicians. The livestream virtual format that has proved successful with our educational courses will allow for an interactive forum accessible from home or office. We hope that you will join us and encourage colleagues to register as well.
In addition, our Education Council is planning to introduce new on-demand learning opportunities in 2024 and our Annual Meeting Planning committee will be planning an in-person meeting for 2025.
On behalf of the ISCD Board of Directors and staff, I wish you, your families and friends all the best in the year ahead.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ranjodh Gill, MD, FACE, FACP, CCD
