Anita Colquhoun RTNM, MRT(N), CDT is the charge technologist in the Centre for Osteoporosis & Bone Health at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto. Anita is a Nuclear Medical Technologist specialized in Bone Mineral Density (BMD). She has been working in the field of BMD since the early 1990s. Anita is an active member ISCD Technologist Faculty since 2000. She has served 4 terms on the Governing Board of the ISCD including serving as Executive Secretary and Treasurer of the Board. As well as chairing the Annual Meeting Committee from 2012-2016 Anita served and is still serving on several other committees within the ISCD. She has participated in a variety of research studies and has co-authored abstracts and papers. Anita has also co-written an on-line beginner BMD course as well as developed a competency profile and best practise in BMD for the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences.

Dato’ Dr. Lee is currently Deputy Medical Director, Chair of the Surgical Committee at Beacon Hospital, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. He is President of the Asia Pacific Osteoporosis and Fragility Fracture Society (APOFFS), a section of Asia Pacific Orthopedic Association (APOA).

Dato’ Dr. Lee is also President of the Fragility Fracture Network Malaysia (FFNM) and the Lead for FFNM Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Framework. He is President of the Malaysian Bone Health Optimization Network (MyBONe) and Past President of International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) with 2018 ISCD Dr. Paul D. Miller Service Award.

Dato’ Dr. Lee serves as the Lead of the ISCD Orthopedic Osteoporosis and Densitometry Course, Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Council (RAC) of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) with the 2020 IOF President’s Award. He is Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Fragility Fracture Alliance (APFFA) and Co-Editor of the APFFA Hip Fracture Registry Toolkit.

Additionally, he is a Board member for Fragility Fracture Network (FFN), Founding and Past President of the Osteoporosis Awareness Society of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (OASKLS) and also the Past President of Malaysian Osteoporosis Society (MOS). He is a member of the steering committee for the Asia Pacific Bone Academy (APBA) and South East Asia, India and Hong Kong (SEAIHK) Bone Academy.

Maureen has been a Radiologic Technologist for the past 25 years. As a diagnostic Rad. Tech., she specialized in Trauma and Surgical radiography at one of two Trauma Centers in the greater Chicago land area, and then moved into Orthopedic Radiography before moving onto DXA in 2003. She is the Lead Tech. At the University of Chicago Hospitals, Dept. of Endocrinology. While the bulk of her day consists of performing BMD’s, she is also responsible for QA/QC of equipment and reports, monitoring and performing multiple studies and on-site training of not only office staff but also tutorials for 4th year Med. Students. Maureen has been certified since 2003 and has been an instructor with the ISCD since 2007. 

Dr. Hao Xu is the director and professor of Medical Imaging Department and Nuclear Medicine Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, Guangzhou, China. He has endeavored in the field of musculoskeletal health assessments for more than 20 years. He is the first researcher to establish both the normative reference data for Chinese children’s BMD and the normative reference data for Chinese adult body composition. He has made great achievements in the evaluation of DXA bone growth and development in children and adolescents, clinical bone densitometry of osteoporosis, and assessment of musculoskeletal health. Over the past 2 decades, he has published 25 research articles in this field in international peer-reviewed academic journals such as J Clin Densitom. 

Dr. Xu obtained the CCD certificate in 2005 and the CDT certificate in 2012. He has served as the chairman of the ISCD China panel from 2018 to 2022. Over the past decades, he has participated in the teaching of ISCD bone mineral density measurement and osteoporosis diagnosis courses in China as a full-time lecturer. He helped organize China’s first advanced ISCD courses of DXA body composition measurement course and pediatric bone densitometry course in Guangzhou, China in 2017 and 2019 respectively. He has made great contributions to the promotion of ISCD and musculoskeletal health assessments in China. 

Besides the work mentioned above, Dr. Xu, a famous nuclear medicine physician, has also published more than 200 papers in different medical journals. He is currently the vice-chairman of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He has put great effort into promotion of DXA quality control and quality assurance as well as ISCD QA courses in the field of medical imaging and nuclear medicine in China. He led and participated in the development of the Chinese expert consensus on osteoporosis imaging diagnosis and DXA bone densitometry standardized diagnostic report. 

Dr Manju Chandran is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Director of the Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism Unit that she set up at the Singapore General Hospital in 2007. This unit continues to be the only one in Singapore exclusively devoted to clinical care and research in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disorders. 

Dr Chandran is the Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Consortium on Osteoporosis (APCO), immediate past Chairperson of the Chapter of Endocrinologists, College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine, Singapore; an elected Council Member of the Committee of Scientific Advisors and Board Member of the IOF; Past President of the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore (EMSS), Deputy Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Council of the IOF, Vice Chair of the Asia Pacific Panel of the ISCD, and Treasurer of the Osteoporosis Society of Singapore. She was a Member of the Publications Committee of the ASBMR and current member of its Women In Bone and Mineral Research Committee. She has won a multitude of international awards, including the  most prestigious of the IOF awards- the 2021 Olof Johnell Science Award –an award given to a distinguished medical professional and researcher who has an outstanding record of achievements in education, research and policy implementation within the bone and musculoskeletal field, the IOF-CNS (Committee of National Societies) Medal of Excellence 2015; the IOF-World Congress on Osteoporosis International Young Investigator Award 2013, the Singapore General Hospital Most Inspiring Mentor Award for 2021, the Singhealth DUKE NUS Most Caffeinated Researcher Award 2020, and multiple Service with a Heart Awards conferred by Singapore General Hospital. OPTIMAL (Osteoporosis and Patient Targeted and Integrated Management for Active Living)- the Secondary Fracture Prevention and  Fracture Liaison Service she set up at Singapore General Hospital was the 3rd in the world and the 1st in the Asia Pacific to win the Gold Star in the International Osteoporosis Foundation’s Capture the Fracture Global Map of Best Practice in 2015.  

Susan van der Kamp graduated from St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland (cum laude). Her involvement with DXA scanning started in 1994 when she was part of a team that established a DXA service as part of a multi-disciplinary bone health service St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. She combined scanning patients as a technologist with the running of a number of pharmaceutical clinical trials.  Susan became co-director of the Bone and Joint Unit in the hospital in 2005.  

In 2006 Susan conducted a national audit of DXA services in Ireland, which was to lead to the setting of DXA standards across the island of Ireland. In her role as DXA Technologist, Susan set up bimonthly workshops in 2007, participated in the National Steering Group on the Prevention of Falls and Fractures in Ireland’s Ageing Population 2008 and established a paediatric DXA service in 2012. 

Susan set up a DXA fracture liaison service (FLS) in 2016 and became part of a multidisciplinary FLS group with monthly meetings. In 2017 Susan set up ‘Capture the Fracture’ and her achievements in the fracture liaison service were recognized in Oxford, UK in 2018 through a top poster winning competition.
