Cystic Fibrosis

 

The lumbar spine DXA image gives a diagnosis of bone mineral density below the expected range for age.

The left hip DXA image supports a diagnosis of bone mineral density below the expected range for age.

Case Description:

This DXA scan is from a 26-year-old male with cystic fibrosis. The bone mineral density is below the expected range for age. In cystic fibrosis there is often low peak bone mass. Other causes of low bone mass include calcium and vitamin D malabsorption.
