Panniculus/Obesity

The panniculus is retracted on this Hologic left hip scan from a premenopausal woman.

This is the same patient on the same day with the panniculus not retracted. It is possible to see the outline of the panniculus.

Case Description:

This DXA scan is from a premenopausal woman who is 64″ tall and weight 416 pounds, BMI = 71.4. The image on the left is with the panniculus retracted, and the image on the right is with the panniculus not retracted. Notice the large change in bone mineral density at the femoral neck. No T-scores are reported because the patient is premenopausal.
